Back for Round 2

Time to dust off the computer and once again fire up the training blog! Rest assured, no spot of dust has collected on my running shoes… no speck of rust on my chain… and no doubt that my hair is sufficiently chlorinated. No, I haven’t been updating my site. I have been training. Hard.
I look forward to writing again and hope that someone out there will enjoy taking a cyber journey with me as I continue to explore the sport of triathlon, training for the endurance event of my lifetime–Ironman Wisconsin. I just did my first outdoor run of the year last weekend–a 5K race in Wauwatosa. It was snowing. I was blessed to have my girlfriend there to run it too. It was her first race ever, which made me really proud of her to finish in such poor weather and be happy enough that she wants to do another race! It was my first ever 5K race as well, unless 5K runs on the front or back end of a du/triathlon count. Funny that I’ve done half and full marathons almost 2 years before ever doing a 5K… Anyhow, my lungs didn’t appreciate being out in the cold, and my mind didn’t appreciate that my lungs could only do so much. But I finished 12th I think. I went out a little fast (first time I’ve ever done that before, right…?).
So at a glance, what’s coming up for my Season 2 multisport races?
- May 25 — Saturday — Cooney Duathlon. 2 mile run, 21 mile bike, 2 mile run.
- June 15 — Saturday — High Cliff Half Ironman. 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run.
- July 12-14 — Pewaukee Multisport Weekend
- Friday — Pewaukee 5K race
- Saturday — Pewaukee Duathlon. 2 mile run, 16 mile bike, 2 mile run.
- Sunday — Pewaukee Lake Triathlon. 0.25 mile swim, 14 mile bike, 3.1 mile run.
- August 3 — Saturday — Copperman Triathlon. 0.5 mile swim, 23 mile bike, 5 mile run.
- September 8 — Sunday — MOO. 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run.
- September 22 — Sunday — Lake Country Duathlon. 2 mile run, 17 mile bike, 2 mile run.
That’ll do for now. I’ll write up some training updates soon. Excited to get my bike wheels out on the pavement. Holding out that it will still happen this month.
And, if you haven’t noticed that this site design has gone from okay to amazing, take a second look. My friend g took over my site framework and did his thing. He never fails to impress. Thanks g!
Work hard, God bless.
